The state will continue to invest in the restoration of historical and cultural attractions. This was announced today by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko while visiting the Kossovsky palace and park ensemble, BelTA has learned.

“We need to develop domestic tourism. Overseas trips, of course, are good, but still most of the time Belarusians rest at home. To have somewhere to go, you need to invest in tourism infrastructure, including objects of historical and cultural heritage. Unfortunately, almost everything that was created in Belarus over many centuries and generations turned out to be destroyed due to various historical events, mainly military ones. Therefore, the state has invested and continues to invest a lot of money in the restoration of those few surviving objects, ”said Roman Golovchenko.

The Prime Minister visited the exhibition halls of the Kossovo Palace, got acquainted with the restoration work. Now five halls are open for visiting. Historical interiors have been recreated there. In addition to antiques and furniture, the atmosphere is complemented by stucco, stained glass and murals. The White Hall especially attracts the attention of tourists. In the Ivatsevichi region, by the way, the tradition of holding balls there has been revived. There is also a hotel in one wing of the palace, and a restaurant in the other.

Restoration work is currently underway on the second floor. Experts are working on the restoration of the interiors of the living room, the ballroom in the neo-Gothic style, and the observation deck.

“The Kossovsky castle is of great interest, we see good flows of tourists who come to this unique place. The reconstruction of the Kossovsky Palace began in 2008. The state has invested about Br21 million in its restoration, funding is provided from the republican and regional budgets. We are entering the home stretch, the facility is more than 80% ready. The completion date of all works is scheduled for December 2022, “he noted Minister of Culture Anatoly Markevich.

He also spoke about the reconstruction of the nearby Ruzhany palace and park ensemble. “Work is underway on the Eastern building. However, the preservation of this unique object is more worrisome. We will discuss with our colleagues the issue of preserving individual elements of the complex in order to prevent destruction. Then, as far as possible, I think, we will return and carry out the work in stages, ”the minister explained.

Only important. For the pros only.
