Houzz Tour: Spare Bedroom Apartment

Houzz тур: Квартира для видеоблогера в Нижнем Новгороде

Even before the visit to the architect, the customers determined the fate of this apartment. First, the tenants will live here, and then the grown-up son will settle. But they planned to renovate the apartment once, so the layout should be suitable for both tenants and a young man of 20 years old.

We tried to create an open space to the maximum and combined the living room with a corridor and a kitchen, tells Vedran Brkich. And allocated areas of the hallway, kitchen, dining room and seating areas

For zoning, lightweight partitions made of wood and glass were installed. Translucent shelving and translucent surfaces have helped make interiors visually lighter.

Idea and solution: The front of the cabinets smoothly flows from the hallway to the private area and the kitchen this is the main idea of the project. It was this technique that set the whole mood of the interior., says the architect.

What did you save on: Almost all the furniture for the project was custom-made with veneered facades. Vedran explains that the inexpensive material made it possible to significantly reduce the cost and transfer the project to the budget category.

Living room
If necessary, here you can quickly “deploy” a full-fledged isolated guest bedroom. The sleeping place is fenced off by blackout curtains – they close the sleeping place along the entire perimeter (the guides go along the ceiling and are visible in the photo above).

Bedroom
The second room had a bedroom before the renovation. The purpose of the room was retained, but rearranged: capacious wardrobes with veneered facades were placed along one wall (in the top photo). And for the bed, a high soft headboard was made to order almost to the ceiling.

Dark veneer furniture was also installed in the bathroom. Instead of a bathroom, a shower stall with a glass enclosure was installed.
